In honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, Headway Worcestershire proudly delivered the second Acquired Brain Injury Games.
People with acquired brain injuries from anywhere in the UK participated in this event.
There were 4 categories - Physical Activities, Creative Expression, Cognitive Skills and Life Skills.
Both Creative Expression and Life Skills can be entered remotely if you can't attend in person.
This event was held on 3rd August 2023 at the University of Worcester Sports Arena.
ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?
We created many activities across four categories.
Participants can create their own piece of art in the run up to the event. These will then be judged at the event itself. The categories are: Photography, Painting/Drawing, Pottery, Woodwork, Creative Writing and Craft.
Teams from around the country will participate in physical games. The categories are: Boccia, Indoor Bowls, Walking Tennis, Walking Football, Walking Rugby and Walking Cricket. Do you have a team to enter into this category?
Participants are invited to create their entries prior to the event. These will then be judged at the event itself. The categories you can choose are: Grow tallest Sunflower, Grow Wonky Fruit/Veg, Bake a Cake, Bake Scones, Bake a Loaf of Bread and Make a Preserve.
Participants will take part in this category throughout the day. The categories are: Sjoelbak, Uno, Memory Game, Dominoes, and Chess.
Select the categories you would like to enter, fill in the form below and we will include you in the programme of activities. All participants will receive a medal, certificate and a baseball cap.
We need volunteers on the day to help with marshalling, refereeing, physiotherapy and general assistance with the event itself. If you are available and feel like supporting us then please fill in the form below and we will make sure we contact you.
Fancy a fun day out with the family? Come along and get to cheer and support our participants. Entry is free! Refreshments will be available to buy inside the Arena.
We have a number of sponsorship opportunities for local businesses to support the games. If you are keen to help this initiative, please do get in touch and we can discuss your options with you.
