Uplifting and inspiring music will be enchanting listeners’ ears at the Pershore Abbey on the 4th and 5th of December this year. The Christmas Concert – A Feast of Music – delivered by the 70 members of the Worcester Male Voice Choir will include songs and carols, with Holborne Brass Ensemble, soprano Sophie Edkin and organist Keith Hearnshaw performing at the historical venue as well.
Alan Simmonds Chairman of Worcester Male Voice Choir said “The Christmas Concerts at Pershore Abbey are earmarked for one or two local charities each year and we decided on this occasion that the very important work of Headway Worcestershire should benefit”. The choir has raised so far over £150,000 for charity since 1987 when it was first formed, and are looking to continue their support towards organisations and their important work.
Les Janes, Stage Manager for WMVC said “Headway is a charity very close to the hearts of my family and am delighted we are sponsoring them”.
Headway Worcestershire supports people in Worcestershire with acquired brain injury, resulted after strokes, tumours or road traffic accidents. Julia Protesaru, Fundraising Manager says that “we are extremely grateful to the WMVC for their support towards the work we do for the wellbeing of those around us. Our clients’ lives have been so drastically changed by their acquired brain injury and it is hard for them and their families to cope with all the pressure. The contribution will help provide support to those in Worcestershire who need our vital services, and it is encouraging to see our effort being recognised by members of the community, especially with strokes and brain injuries on the rise. “
“It was an eye opener to visit the Worcester HQ of Headway and see the range of work they are involved in especially the training workshops used to help clients develop new skills” – Terry Dillingham WMVC Public Relations Officer.
In addition to supporting Headway Worcestershire, proceeds from the event will also go to the Friends of Pershore Hospital. The show starts at 7PM. Tickets are £12 to include the programme, a drink and a mince pie, and are available at the Guildhall Worcester, Blue in Pershore, Pershore Library, Headway charity shops in Worcester, by e-mail on firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01905 821 659 (Terry) or 01905 729 729 (Julia).
