The Worcestershire charity, Headway is celebrating a very positive inspection from CQC (Care Quality Commission) who regulate all health and social care services. The service, which supports people in their own homes, received an Outstanding rating in the category of “caring” and a Good rating for “safe”, “effective”, “responsive” and “well-led”.

“We are one of the first organisations in Worcestershire to receive an outstanding rating for caring. For our wonderful staff it is well deserved” commented Laura Hall, the Registered Manager.

“The Inspector spoke to the people who use our services as well as staff, relatives and other care professionals. It is reassuring to get such positive feedback.”

Headway Worcestershire works mostly with people who have an acquired brain injury and other neurological problems. It also works with other people who may need support at home due to other conditions.

“Our specialism is acquired brain injury, but as we offer a Worcestershire wide service it makes sense to serve other people as well” commented Chief Executive Mel Akers.

Asked the secret of their success Laura replied “Staff. We employ some very dedicated people who will always go the extra mile for our clients.  We involve people who use the service at recruitment interviews and they know the difference between saying you care and being a really caring person.”

Headway Worcestershire recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and offers a range of services including day opportunities programmes, counselling and self-help groups.
